ISRAEL PATENT# 223503
The Smart-Tunnel is a small and cost-efficient wind tunnel. It is aimed for educational or hobby use. It can be placed in room and can be easily moved to a different location according to need.
The Smart-Tunnel has an open-loop design in which the main fan is impelling static air from the surroundings into the test chamber.
One of the key features of the Smart-Tunnel is that it is fully computerized and uses a patent-pending 3DoF electro-mechanical measurement unit and integrated pitot-tube for true air-velocity measurement.
The Smart-Tunnel mechanical structure is lightweight and foldable for easy storage.
Modes of operation
The Smart-Tunnel is fully operated from a remote computer and can be programmed to perform different test profiles automatically. It can be operated in two ways:
Manual: The user sets the Angle Of Attack (AOA) and air speed. After the desired test conditions settled, the user command a measurement operation to display and log the applied forces that acts on the test model. Each measurement includes its statistical properties (Mean and Stddev) and logged into a CSV file for later analysis.
Automatic: The user setup and load a predefined test protocol that includes AOA and air speeds. The wind tunnel follow the profile and dwell at each test point before logging a measurement. At the end, a graphical representation can be generated.
